I hope you’re all safe and well right now and taking advantage of any extra time at home to work on the Porsche projects you’ve been putting off. I am a self-employed limited company director, and I don’t get any help from the government. I’m fine with that because other people need it more, and the risks are part of the benefit of having complete freedom. I’m working on a bunch of different projects and just taking each day as it comes.

My friend Jonny Hart at Classic Retrofit is also very philosophical, and he has been staying at home to catch up on his long list of things to do. I’ve been bugging him for a while to make a video walkaround of his beautiful 1982 Porsche 911 SC Coupe in the unique 914 shade of Delphi Green.

We’ve had a lot of fun together on road trips in this perfect SC, like when we drove down to Ruf Automobile a few years ago because Jonny was hired as a consultant for the new Ruf CTR’s heating and ventilation. The perfect ending was to go back through the Porsche Museum on the way home. Here you can read about our Ruf road trip.

Not only does Jonny drive this car every day, but it is also used as a test mule and show car for all of Classic Retrofit’s products, such as:

  • Replace old fuse panels with new ones that have headlight relays built in.
  • CDI+ is an upgrade to the standard Bosch CDI box’s spark plugs.
  • Electric air conditioning saves weight and fuel and does a good job of controlling the temperature
  • High-output alternator for 911, 964, and 993 models that can deliver up to 240A.
  • Upgrade for Porsche 911s with a small windscreen washer reservoir

The car also has some cool research and development products installed, like new solid-state relays to replace the current OE junk that breaks all the time and a test version of the Classic Retrofit high-power ignition coil that has been in development for a while, also to replace the bad Porsche-supplied Brazilian coils. More about them later.

Jonny’s video is a great overview of his car and the upgraded electronics that can be bought from Classic Retrofit. Most of these things are great DIY projects to do at home when you’re stuck inside. Modern replacement fuse panels for Porsche 911s up to 1989 are a no-brainer, especially considering how many problems the original panels, which can be up to fifty years old, can cause. Getting rid of those old panels and replacing them with new ones that have built-in bus bars and headlamp relays that can boost light output by up to 20% is a great deal.

Watch the SC video below and go to https://www.classicretrofit.com/ to see what products are in stock right now. The new air-conditioning kit for Porsche models 964 and 993 is also now on sale until supplies run out. As a former designer of defense and medical electronics, he knows how hard UK manufacturers are working to make hundreds of ventilators, so Jonny has just agreed to cut his production to help them. If you’ve been thinking about getting an air conditioning kit for your car, now is the time to do it.
